Statement from Rep. Amy Elik on Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

State Representative Amy Elik released the following statement following the assassination of Charlie Kirk:

“I can’t believe the words ‘political violence’ are part of our vocabulary so often lately. Today we mourn a 31-year-old husband and father, who was not an elected official, who expressed views he has a right to have and speak on publicly. He was assassinated for that today, in front of hundreds of young people. He captivated people of all ages with his willingness to debate with anyone and to go into the lion’s den to do it. I’m not as brave as he was. Most people aren’t. Many people I know followed him and knew him personally. I did not know him, but am feeling their loss today with them and am praying to God for his young family tonight. Rest in the peace of Christ Charlie Kirk.”
