State Representatives Amy Elik (Alton), Dan Ugaste (Geneva), and Patrick Windhorst (Metropolis) held a press conference in Springfield on the eve of the Governor’s 2026 State of the State and Budget Address.
They outlined their concerns and House GOP priorities going into the address.
“This budget year, we are entering into a budget cycle with uncertain revenue projections, so our budgeting process needs to be disciplined, transparent and responsible,” said Elik. “Make no mistake about it, the Governor has relied on tax increases and used smoke and mirrors to make previous budgets appear balanced – and I don’t suspect this year will be any different.”
