3 Things You Didn’t Know About Representative Amy Elik

Here are three things you didn’t know about Illinois State Representative Amy Elik:

1. Iced Tea Drinker

Iced tea is Rep. Elik’s beverage of choice and you will never see her with a cup of coffee. She’s ruled out coffee forever after a mishap when she was very young. When she was six years old, she and her sister snuck a sip of her Grandma’s coffee. Unfortunately, the coffee was cold and mostly just leftover coffee grounds, forever ruining the siblings’ opinion of any type of coffee. So iced tea it is!

2. Introvert

Rep. Elik was quite shy as a child and still considers herself an introvert. Public speaking, often required by a state lawmaker, doesn’t come easy to her but she does it anyway to ensure her constituents are well-informed and well-represented. She admits she has come out of her shell “just a little” after years of involvement in her community.

3. Lifelong Illinois Resident

Other than the four years she spent in Champaign for college, Rep. Elik has lived in Godfrey or Alton, Illinois her entire life. She has the honor of representing the communities where she grew up, came back to after college to work, and where she is raising her family. She loves representing her friends and neighbors in the Metro East.
