State Representative Amy Elik joined local leaders and manufacturers during the Illinois Manufacturer’s Association’s “Makers on the Move” bus tour. IMA partnered with IMEC to launch the third annual statewide bus tour. The tour visits manufacturing facilities, educational institutions, and community centers across Illinois to celebrate Manufacturing Month and raise awareness for exciting career opportunities in the industry.
The tour started in Springfield on October 4th and came to the Metro East on Wednesday, October 9th. The bus tour stopped at Alton Steel Inc, where Elik and other local leaders were met by steelworkers and administration from Alton Steel. After remarks and meeting the workers, Elik hopped on as the tour headed south to Granite City.
In Granite City, the tour stopped at America’s Central Port. Here, the team met with employees and community leaders as they highlighted the many great things the Port is doing. The IMA choosing to make two stops in the 111th district is a testament to the work that local leaders are doing to bring manufacturing back to the Metro East.
