Illinois Needs Less Taxation
On Tuesday I participated in a press conference discussing the importance of less taxation in our state.

I believe our state can be a destination for job growth. Our border states are growing and doing better than us – something has to change.

I believe our state can and should be more competitive with our border states and it starts with less taxation. Check out a clip from the press conference here.

Honoring Local Guests at the Emerging Women Leaders Conference

Last week I welcomed two guests to the third annual Emerging Women Leaders (EWL) conference: Megan Tyler and Melissa Bell-Yates. The event took place Tuesday in Springfield to honor the contributions of emerging female leaders from throughout the state.

I was proud to honor Megan Tyler and Melissa Bell-Yates for their achievements and recognize them at the Emerging Women Leaders Recognition Conference. These two women are leading the way and making a positive impact in our region.

Megan Tyler and Melissa Beth-Yates exemplify the spirit of leadership and service that the EWL conference aims to celebrate. Their contributions to their respective organizations and communities serve as a source of inspiration for women leaders across the state. Learn more about the special event here.

Podcast, Capitol Crimes: Shattered Trust
Democracy depends on the public’s trust of its leaders. When that trust is shattered it could take years, if ever, to put the pieces back together. Wiretaps, stings, racketeering, bribery, and extortion – terms that have become all too familiar to the general public. Why should they care about good public policy if the politicians don’t?  It is one of the reasons that so many people are disengaging from politics – they don’t trust politicians to do the right thing.

In this episode of Capitol Crimes Rep. Ryan Spain and I discuss the rampant corruption that plagues our state. We talk about our attempts to rebuild the trust of Illinoisans continue to be thwarted by those leading the General Assembly. You may listen to the podcast here.

House Back in Session
The Illinois House of Representatives will reconvene on Wednesday, March 20. You may watch the session live at Noon here.
